Accountant – Peruvian Tax & Compliance (Hybrid, Lima)

About the role

Our client, a provider of professional services to foreign‑owned companies in Peru, is looking for a skilled Accountant to ensure accurate bookkeeping, tax compliance and financial reporting for high‑volume client portfolios. The role is hybrid, based in Lima, and operates on an independent‑contractor basis.

Key responsibilities

• Perform monthly bookkeeping and maintain accounting records in accordance with IFRS as adopted in Peru.
• Prepare and file monthly SUNAT tax obligations, including IGV, income‑tax advance payments and withholding declarations.
• Maintain electronic accounting books via SIRE and PLE, handling Registro de Compras and Registro de Ventas.
• Manage electronic invoicing compliance through SEE/OSE, supporting client invoice issuance and validation.
• Administer and reconcile detracciones, retenciones and percepciones.
• Prepare annual income‑tax returns, financial statements, supporting schedules and monthly reporting packs, mapping local figures to IFRS or US GAAP when required.
• Reconcile T‑Registro, PLAME, ESSALUD and AFP/ONP postings with the general ledger in coordination with payroll, and respond to SUNAT notifications, information requests, esquelas and audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited Peruvian university.
• Active registration with the Colegio de Contadores Públicos.
• Minimum three years of experience in Peruvian accounting and tax compliance, preferably in professional services or outsourced accounting.
• Fluent Spanish and professional‑level English.

Required skills

• IFRS (as adopted in Peru) and US GAAP conversion knowledge.
• Hands‑on experience with SUNAT online platforms, SIRE, PLE and electronic invoicing systems (SEE/OSE).
• Proficiency with Peruvian accounting software such: Concar, Siscont or SAP.
