COBOL Developer – Remote

About the role

We are looking for an experienced COBOL Developer to maintain and modernize mission‑critical applications on IBM mainframe systems. The role is fully remote and offers the chance to work on large‑scale enterprise environments for clients in banking, insurance, and government.

Key responsibilities

• Design, code, test, and debug COBOL programs for batch and CICS online processing.
• Maintain and optimise data access using DB2, VSAM, and JCL.
• Analyse legacy code and documentation to identify modernisation opportunities.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate mainframe applications with cloud‑native architectures.
• Provide production support, including root‑cause analysis and remediation.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies to deliver high‑quality updates.

Required profile

• 4+ years of software engineering experience in mainframe environments.
• Hands‑on experience with IBM mainframe systems in banking, insurance, or government sectors.
• Proven track record modernising legacy COBOL applications.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
