Criminal Defense Paralegal (Remote, Latin America)

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Criminal Defense Paralegal to support a US‑based law firm remotely from Latin America. The role focuses on managing case preparation, coordinating court dates, and ensuring all legal filings are completed on time.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare background legal documents, draft basic filings, and compile case files.
• Coordinate depositions, hearings, and court appearances with opposing counsel, judges, and court staff.
• Track court dockets, filing deadlines, and procedural requirements to keep cases on schedule.
• Organize, review, and redact legal documents and evidence for upcoming proceedings.
• Maintain accurate case management records, client files, and calendar systems.
• Communicate professionally with internal legal teams and court personnel.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of paralegal experience, preferably in US criminal law.
• Proven ability to handle court scheduling, deposition coordination, and docket management.
• Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.
• Strong organizational abilities, self‑direction, and reliability under strict deadlines.
• High emotional intelligence and discretion with sensitive legal information.

Required skills

• Experience with legal case management platforms such as Filevine or Clio.
