Machine Learning Engineer

About the role

Haystack News is a fast‑growing TV startup that delivers local and world news to millions of Connected TV users. We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to help improve the news‑delivery experience by building and deploying intelligent models and data pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze large data sets to extract insights using statistical techniques.
• Design, train, evaluate and deploy machine learning models that power content recommendation.
• Maintain and scale data infrastructure, ensuring reliability and performance.
• Configure, monitor and orchestrate data pipelines and related tooling.
• Run and monitor A/B tests to validate model impact.
• Develop and manage APIs that expose ML services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field.
• At least 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong mathematical and statistical background with experience on big data sets.
• Proficiency with AWS cloud services and Python programming.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB).
• Familiarity with data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery or Redshift is a plus.
• Exposure to ML libraries like scikit‑learn, LightGBM and XGBoost.
• Travel visa to the United States is desired.
