Senior Java Software Developer – Mainframe Modernization

About the role

Join Kyndryl’s global team of experts to modernize mission‑critical mainframe applications. As a Senior Java Software Developer you will design, build and maintain high‑volume business logic while extracting legacy code for cloud and mobile integration.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java‑based services on the mainframe platform.
• Monitor architecture performance, identify inefficiencies and optimise code.
• Debug, troubleshoot and test complex system interactions to ensure continuous operation.
• Refactor legacy business logic for migration to cloud‑native services.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement micro‑services, containers and messaging solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a software engineer on complex, high‑throughput projects.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a solid understanding of OOP and design patterns.
• Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases, data mapping and RESTful APIs.

Required skills

• Java, Spring Boot, Quarkus, Spring Batch, Apache Flink
• GraphQL, Kafka, REST, XML/JSON
• Microservices architecture, Docker, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
• Messaging queues, Azure components, DevOps tools
• Relational databases (e.g., SQL) and NoSQL databases
