Temporary Art Teacher (2026/2027)

About the role

We are seeking a temporary Art Teacher for Mission Hills High School for the 2026‑2027 academic year. The teacher will deliver a comprehensive art program that may include crafts, photography, and yearbook publication, fostering students’ aesthetic development and creative expression.

Key responsibilities

• Teach a general art curriculum covering crafts, photography, and principles of publication.
• Develop instructional plans that balance demonstration, hands‑on work, and individual or small‑group instruction.
• Guide students in proper care and use of art tools and equipment, and manage storage and inventory.
• Assess student performance, prepare progress reports, and communicate with parents and counselors.
• Maintain a safe, orderly studio environment and support student citizenship and communication skills.
• Select and requisition instructional materials, plan art displays and exhibitions, and collaborate with other departments.
• Participate in professional development activities and district‑wide curriculum initiatives.

Required profile

• California credential authorizing instruction of Art Education (or equivalent state credential).
• Knowledge of art education concepts, philosophy, and social context.
• Ability to adapt instruction for students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities.
• Strong classroom management skills to maintain an orderly studio.
• Willingness to engage in professional growth and inter‑departmental collaboration.
