AS/400 (iSeries) System Administrator - L2

About the role

We are looking for an experienced AS/400 (IBM iSeries) System Administrator at Level 2 to support a 24x7 enterprise environment. The role involves managing system administration, performance monitoring, backup/recovery, security, high‑availability, and overall stability of iSeries platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve escalated incidents beyond L1 support.
• Monitor, analyze, and optimize system performance; produce daily status reports.
• Create, modify, and manage user profiles, service accounts, and security settings.
• Handle digital certificates, SSL implementation, SSH configuration, and key generation.
• Administer BRMS backups, validate restores, and support disaster‑recovery testing.
• Manage internal/external storage, tape libraries, and disk reclamation activities.
• Configure and schedule jobs using Advanced Job Scheduler; manage job queues and subsystems.
• Administer printer sessions, output queues, and resolve spool issues.
• Maintain HA/DR environments, monitor replication, and support failover drills.
• Evaluate and apply PTFs, HIPER fixes, and cumulative packages.
• Coordinate with hardware and software vendors for issue resolution.

Required profile

• 5 to 10 years of experience administering AS/400 / IBM iSeries environments.
• Proven ability to act as primary escalation point for operational issues.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for system, storage, and network‑related problems.
