Climate & Carbon Specialist

About the role

Earthworm is seeking a Climate & Carbon Specialist to lead technical carbon work across its portfolio of climate projects, primarily in Latin America. You will ensure that carbon methodologies are robust, compliant, and deliver measurable impact for farmers, partners, and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Own and refine the organization’s Scope 3 carbon methodology, aligning with standards such as SBTi FLAG, GHG Protocol LSRG, VCS, and Gold Standard.
• Develop and maintain carbon models, sampling strategies, and data‑management systems to generate accurate ex‑ante and ex‑post carbon estimates.
• Collaborate with the impact team to implement a comprehensive MRV system, integrating satellite alerts, farmer‑level verification tools, and biomass/soil sampling.
• Translate complex data into client‑facing reports and actionable insights for regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, and landscape restoration projects.
• Train field teams and partners on carbon accounting, MRV processes, and sampling methods.
• Support business development by contributing to new project designs, proposals, and tracking emerging standards and market trends.

Required profile

• Passionate about delivering practical climate solutions in field‑based environments.
• Strong background in carbon accounting and land‑sector GHG methodologies.
• Experience in carbon project development, MRV, or land‑sector GHG accounting.
• Ability to bridge technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
