Principal/Lead Investment Officer – Infrastructure & Energy (Andean Region)

About the role

The Principal or Lead Investment Officer will drive IDB Invest’s infrastructure and energy portfolio across the Andean Group, supporting the institution’s ambition to double annual financing and deepen private‑sector participation in the region.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain client relationships with governments, private firms and development partners in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela.
• Build a pipeline of investment opportunities through upstream project and sector development.
• Lead transaction execution, structuring loans, guarantees, debt‑capital‑market instruments, equity and quasi‑equity solutions.
• Mobilise resources and coordinate technical assistance for project implementation.
• Provide oversight to Country Representatives and Delivery Unit Directors, ensuring alignment with IDB Invest’s strategic objectives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in infrastructure and energy investment, preferably within Latin America.
• Strong understanding of public‑private partnership models and multilateral financing mechanisms.
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi‑stakeholder transactions across several countries.
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
