RTD Engineer – Mill Lining

About the role

Metso is seeking an RTD Engineer to join its Research & Technology Development team within the Mill Lining business area. The role focuses on creating new products, improving existing offerings, and developing innovative processes from idea through proof‑of‑concept stages. You will work closely with product managers and other stakeholders to ensure safety, sustainability, cost efficiency, and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new mill lining products, solutions and concepts with emphasis on safety, sustainability, cost and performance.
• Enhance existing products – performance, quality, safety, competitiveness and expand size options.
• Design and execute new processes or technologies in the idea and proof‑of‑concept phases.
• Plan, drive and monitor development projects according to agreed timelines and budgets.
• Organise, follow up and document field tests.
• Provide project‑specific information to internal product standards for use by stakeholders.
• Support product launch with material and knowledge transfer to the market.
• Assist supply chains (rubber, Poly‑Met, metal) with product expertise.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis (RCA) for mill lining products.
• Travel within Sweden and internationally to support customers, factories and test facilities.

Required profile

• Civil or university degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience with related products.
• Proven experience driving or contributing to development projects.
• High level of creativity and innovation capability.
• Basic knowledge of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
• Fluent written and spoken English.
