Senior Software Engineer – Rust

About the role

Payward Services is building a unified platform for trading, payments, funding and digital‑asset services. As a Senior Software Engineer you will create and scale the core Rust services that power this infrastructure, ensuring reliability, performance and security at massive scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high‑performance Rust services and libraries that support trading, payments and crypto workflows.
• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code that can be shared across multiple teams.
• Collaborate on large‑scale distributed system architecture, translating product requirements into low‑latency, resilient solutions.
• Debug issues across the full stack – operating system, network, and application layers.
• Take end‑to‑end ownership of services and libraries, from design through production monitoring.
• Mentor junior engineers and help shape the technical culture of the team.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in writing network services or asynchronous code in Rust.
• Security‑first mindset when designing systems.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot OS, network and application problems.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, RPC protocols, Kafka and event‑driven architectures.
• Effective collaboration with product teams to gather requirements and constraints.
• Willingness to own systems end‑to‑end and provide mentorship.
