Drill Autonomy Engineer – Level 1

About the role

FLANDERS is seeking a Level 1 Autonomy Field Engineer to deliver on‑site technical support for ARDVARC autonomous drilling systems used in the mining sector. The role involves installation, maintenance, diagnostics and close collaboration with drill operators and maintenance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide field technical support for ARDVARC Autonomy System components, including installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Assist drill control‑room operators with system‑related issues and coordinate autonomy actions with stakeholders.
• Work with Maintenance and Operations teams to schedule daily autonomy tasks and adhere to mining site rotation schedules.
• Report technical issues to Level 2 Engineers or escalate to the factory as needed.
• Prepare technical reports, service documentation and conduct root‑cause analysis of drill or autonomy failures.
• Maintain clear communication on system performance and ensure compliance with safety and quality protocols.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic Engineering or a technical certification in Industrial Automation, Electronics or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with electric drills such as Komatsu 320XPC, Caterpillar MD6640, Epiroc PV271 or PV351.
• Strong knowledge of rotary‑drill mechanical and hydraulic systems, industrial electrical systems, electric motors and variable‑speed drives.
• Proficiency in PLC programming and automation equipment.
• Valid driver’s license (AII‑B preferred) and high adaptability to work independently.
