Electrical & Automation Engineer

About the role

TRANSFORMER PROTECTOR Corp (TPC) is seeking an Electrical & Automation Engineer to join its Electrical Engineering Design team within the Project Operations Division. The role involves designing electrical systems, programming PLC/HMI, selecting components, supporting manufacturing, and performing testing, troubleshooting and commissioning across Central and South America.

Key responsibilities

• Review technical requirements and develop electrical designs for industrial equipment and systems, including control panels, power/control circuits, and sensor integration.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts and terminal plans using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Program, configure, test and troubleshoot PLC and HMI applications, employing languages such as Ladder Diagram, Structured Text and Function Block Diagram.
• Select and size electrical components, generate Bills of Materials and coordinate with SAP for material references.
• Configure industrial communication networks (Modbus, IEC 61850, DNP3) and IED files, supporting protection and control systems.
• Provide technical documentation, support manufacturing, conduct testing, troubleshooting and commissioning on site across Central and South America.
• Travel occasionally for training, installation support, testing and commissioning activities.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial electrical engineering and automation; 5 years preferred.
• Advanced written and spoken English; French is a plus.
• Strong problem‑solving ability, attention to detail and capacity to work independently and within a team.

Required skills

• Industrial electrical systems design and component selection.
• AutoCAD Electrical for schematics and panel layouts.
• PLC and HMI programming (LD, ST, FBD).
• Industrial communication protocols: Modbus, IEC 61850, DNP3.
• Experience with Bills of Materials and SAP material references.
• Knowledge of protection relays (e.g., Siemens SIPROTEC) and IED configuration files.
