Healthcare Virtual Assistant

About the role

EDGE is seeking a remote Healthcare Virtual Assistant to support US‑based clinics and healthcare practices. The role serves as a vital link between patients, providers, and insurers, ensuring smooth administrative workflows and timely patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits, interpreting PPO, HMO, Medicare and Medicaid policies.
• Calculate and document patient financial responsibilities such as deductibles, copays and coinsurance.
• Prepare, submit and track prior authorization requests via portals, fax or phone, and manage appeals for denied claims.
• Handle inbound and outbound patient communications for scheduling, rescheduling and reminders.
• Maintain doctors’ calendars to optimize clinic workflow and minimize gaps in care.

Required profile

• Healthcare‑related degree (e.g., Nursing, Pharmacy, Healthcare Administration, Public Health) preferred.
• 1–2 years of direct experience in the US healthcare industry, specifically in insurance verification and prior authorizations.
• Strong understanding of US insurance concepts, including PPO, HMO, EOBs, copays and patient benefits.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with high attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with insurance portals such as Availity, Optum and CoverMyMeds.
• Experience using electronic health record or practice management systems (e.g., ECW, Tebra, Dentrix).
