Junior Engineer (Level B) – Mining & Geotechnical Projects

About the role

KCB is seeking a Junior Engineer (Level B) to join its multidisciplinary engineering team. The role supports a diverse portfolio of mining, geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil infrastructure projects across Latin America and internationally.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare engineering calculations, technical memoranda, and design documentation for review.
• Support integration of engineering designs with closure, environmental, and social requirements.
• Plan and supervise field investigation programs, including drilling and in‑situ testing.
• Process and interpret data from field investigations, laboratories, and external stakeholders.
• Analyze laboratory and field‑testing results for geotechnical and material characterization.
• Perform geotechnical evaluations such as slope stability, seepage, settlement, consolidation, filter compatibility, and mass‑balance analyses.
• Evaluate monitoring data from instrumentation systems (piezometers, inclinometers, settlement plates).
• Develop volumetric surface models, alignments, profiles, cross‑sections, and quantity estimates.
• Support design of mining and infrastructure components and contribute to dam breach and tailings facility assessments.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Two to five years of relevant professional experience in consulting, mining, geotechnical, or civil engineering projects.
• Strong understanding of engineering design principles, technical reporting, and interpretation of drawings, plans, diagrams, and specifications.
