Junior Software Engineer – Accounting Experience

About the role

Sezzle is looking for a motivated Junior Software Engineer who brings accounting expertise to a fast‑moving fintech team. This role blends software development with financial operations, offering a chance to grow technically while applying domain knowledge.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to enhance and maintain software solutions for financial processes.
• Develop new features and contribute throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Leverage accounting background to identify gaps and improve automation and reconciliation workflows.
• Evaluate, deploy, and monitor software tools, processes, and metrics.
• Provide support and consulting on software system usage.
• Ensure compliance with project plans and industry standards.

Required profile

• Prior experience as an accountant or financial analyst.
• Solid understanding of financial operations such as reconciliation, reporting, and compliance.
• Proficient in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Go).
• Experience with backend API development and relational databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with software engineering tools, development methodologies, and release processes.
• Demonstrated experience using Claude or equivalent large language model tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field.
