Laundry Manager (Shipboard)

About the role

The Laundry Manager oversees the daily operation of the shipboard laundry facility, ensuring efficient processing of all linen and guest items while maintaining high quality standards. Reporting to the Executive Housekeeper, the role requires technical expertise and strong coordination with multiple ship departments.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily laundry activities, including washing, ironing, dry cleaning, and storage of all laundry products.
• Ensure all laundry equipment is fully operational; coordinate repairs and maintenance with the Executive Housekeeper and First Engineer.
• Inspect dryers and other machines daily for lint buildup, temperature compliance, and optimal performance.
• Submit daily inspection reports and manage chemical supply requisitions within budget guidelines.
• Coordinate sorting, washing schedules, and timely distribution of linen to staterooms, crew cabins, food & beverage areas, spa, pool, cruise division, and other ship zones.
• Work with the Ecolab representative to calibrate machines and set appropriate formulas and cycles for different linen types and soil levels.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of work areas and equipment.
• Liaise with senior deck supervisors and other departments to ensure special items (e.g., top‑suite linens, costumes) are handled correctly.

Required profile

• Technical proficiency with laundry equipment and processes.
• Ability to assess methods, follow detailed written or oral instructions, and apply common sense in problem‑solving.
• Strong judgment for corrective actions and quality control.
• Capability to interact with guests and address their laundry requirements.
