Lead Developer

About the role

Thoughtworks is looking for a Lead Developer to act as the primary technical liaison for our clients. You will combine strategic thinking with hands‑on coding to guide teams from concept through production, ensuring high‑quality, value‑driven delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Champion best‑practice engineering such as clean, reusable code, TDD, pair programming and design patterns.
• Oversee the full software consulting lifecycle—from ideation to production evolution.
• Advocate continuous delivery and DevSecOps practices to release secure, high‑quality software early.
• Design pragmatic solutions, select appropriate technologies, and make trade‑offs within client constraints.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teammates to build features, prototypes and ensure UX standards.
• Apply Thoughtworks’ Technology Radar insights to solve client problems.
• Code alongside developers, staying technically active rather than purely managerial.
• Foster an inclusive team culture, provide feedback and support professional growth.

Required profile

• Strong experience with Python and Kafka.
• Familiarity with Thought Machine Core Bancarios 4th Generation (certification a plus).
• Comfortable with modern object‑oriented programming.
• Proven leadership of software teams using Agile, Lean or Continuous Delivery.
• Knowledge of TDD, CI/CD, pairing and infrastructure automation.
• Bonus knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Continuous learning mindset around functional programming, event‑driven architecture or platform engineering.
• Ability to influence technical excellence while remaining open to change.
