Maintenance Specialist – Jail Facility

About the role

The Sheriff's Office is seeking a Maintenance Specialist to support the daily upkeep of its jail facility. The role involves a mix of routine and complex repair tasks, ensuring that all equipment, security systems, and building components remain functional and safe.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, plan, and coordinate repair orders, tracking progress and notifying stakeholders of completion.
• Repair and replace electrical and mechanical security systems, including lock and control mechanisms.
• Fabricate equipment parts and perform repairs on backup generators, lighting, HVAC, and other facility systems.
• Assist with moving office furniture and equipment as needed.
• Perform general maintenance such as painting, bulb replacement, fixture installation, thermostat resets, filter changes, and plumbing repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and follow established procedures.

Required profile

• Knowledge of building maintenance materials, methods, and equipment.
• Experience safely operating manual and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Capacity to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to remain composed when interacting with inmates or in hostile situations.
