Mining Market Sector Lead, LATAM

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Mining Market Sector Lead to support the LATAM region. The role combines mining practice leadership, business development and project management, working with clients and senior leaders to drive major mining projects and opportunities in Latin America.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as mining practice and business development lead for the region, acting as program manager, project manager or technical lead on major mining projects and programs.
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams to project completion, focusing on client communication and delivery.
• Pursue major mining projects in Latin American markets, leading proposals and engaging with clients.
• Support senior leaders in developing mining business strategies based on market trends and identify opportunities in the business line and adjacent sectors.
• Lead client-facing activities to win work with new clients and strengthen relationships with existing clients, partners, industry groups and stakeholders.
• Develop strategies and capture plans for major pursuits, coordinate project opportunities with the Global Mining team and maintain regular client contact.
• Coordinate with Technical Practice Leads and Division Managers to match team skills with market trends and drive strategic technical leadership hires.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of experience or equivalent, including 2 years of leadership.
• Proven knowledge of mining markets, trends and clients.
• Fluent English and Spanish.
• Preferred: Master's or PhD in engineering (Civil, Structural, Geotechnical or related); 15+ years of mining industry technical and leadership experience; 5 years leading projects, client accounts or business development; strong industry reputation; access to C-level stakeholders; ability to broaden into other environmental end markets.
