Senior Systems Engineer – High‑Performance Data Processing (Remote)

About the role

BairesDev is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to design, optimise and maintain high‑performance data processing systems. The role focuses on safe concurrency, Python/C++ interoperability and efficient handling of large‑scale datasets, while working fully remote.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise large‑scale data processing pipelines with a focus on concurrency, memory safety and performance using Python and modern C++.
• Improve and integrate columnar data formats such as Apache Arrow and Parquet, ensuring zero‑copy operations and type consistency.
• Build, profile and debug critical components using low‑level tools (gdb, valgrind, perf, sanitizers) to resolve race conditions, memory leaks and bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with data engineering, DevOps and platform teams to guarantee scalability, stability and observability.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience with concurrent systems and large‑scale data processing.
• Advanced proficiency in Python (multiprocessing, threading, shared_memory) and modern C++ (C++17+).
• 3+ years of cloud experience on AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Strong knowledge of IPC, shared memory mechanisms and Python‑C++ interoperability (ctypes, pybind11, numpy.ctypeslib).
• Proven experience with profiling, debugging and stress‑testing tools.
• Fluent English communication skills.
