Backend SaaS Software Developer

About the role

Canonical is looking for a Backend SaaS Software Developer to join the Landscape team, building the next‑generation management solution for Ubuntu in enterprise environments. The role is fully remote within the Americas and involves working on large‑scale web services, observability, security and automation.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate proactively with a distributed team across the globe.
• Write high‑quality Python code to add new features, fix bugs and modernize the Landscape codebase.
• Ensure code quality through automated testing and participate in code and architectural reviews.
• Take ownership of problems, design solutions and assist with release management.
• Work with DevOps to operate the Landscape SaaS platform and support global travel for team events.

Required profile

• Passion for technology, open‑source software and working with brilliant colleagues.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM or equivalent.
• Experience developing public‑facing APIs and web applications, preferably in Python.
• Familiarity with Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform.
