Engineering Manager – Backend SaaS

About the role

Canonical is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the reboot of its Landscape systems‑management solution for Ubuntu. You will guide a team to modernise a large‑scale SaaS offering, shaping architecture, delivery pipelines and on‑premise capabilities for enterprise customers.

Key responsibilities

• Build and lead a regional team of engineers, providing coaching, mentoring and career development.
• Define and execute an engineering roadmap in partnership with product managers.
• Drive modern, agile software development practices and ensure high‑quality, reliable releases.
• Collaborate with other engineering groups, external partners and the open‑source community.
• Design and maintain automated image delivery, testing and publication pipelines.
• Travel 4‑6 weeks per year for internal and external events.

Required profile

• Proven ability to mentor, develop and grow engineering talent.
• Passionate about software development and delivering high‑quality solutions.
• Experience with agile development methodologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM or equivalent.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Practical experience with Linux system administration.
