Information Retrieval Engineer (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for an Information Retrieval Engineer to design and enhance advanced search systems that deliver highly relevant results to users. The role focuses on building performant, intuitive search infrastructure for a global client base.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and tune search ranking algorithms to improve query relevance.
• Optimize indexing strategies for large-scale datasets while keeping latency low.
• Implement advanced retrieval techniques, including hybrid search and sophisticated scoring models.
• Refine search infrastructure using Lucene-based technologies such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch or Solr.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate search capabilities into various platform services.
• Analyze search patterns and performance metrics to identify enhancement opportunities.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in software, search, or information retrieval engineering.
• Proven track record building and optimizing search systems with Elasticsearch, OpenSearch or Solr.
• Deep understanding of Lucene internals, indexing strategies and relevance scoring models (e.g., BM25).
• Hands-on experience with query DSL optimization and hybrid search techniques.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
