Preschool Assistant Teacher

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Preschool Assistant Teacher to support the lead teacher at St George’s College. The role involves helping deliver the early‑years curriculum, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment, and fostering children’s social and emotional development.

Key responsibilities

• Support classroom instruction by assisting with lesson plans, learning activities and educational games aligned with the preschool curriculum.
• Supervise children during classroom activities, playtime, meals and outdoor periods, ensuring safety and positive behaviour.
• Assist with behaviour management, reinforcing classroom rules and guiding children in social‑emotional skills.
• Prepare and organise learning materials, resources and displays to promote hands‑on learning.
• Maintain a clean, hazard‑free classroom, sanitising toys, surfaces and equipment.
• Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group support for children needing extra help or emotional assistance.
• Observe children’s development and communicate observations or concerns to the lead teacher.
• Help children with daily routines such as arrivals, departures, toileting, meals and rest time.
• Model respectful, inclusive behaviour to encourage a positive classroom culture.
• Collaborate closely with the lead teacher and other staff to ensure consistency in teaching practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (Lic. Educación Preescolar) or equivalent (required).
• Completion of a TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) training course.
• Prior experience working with young children in an educational or care setting (preferred).
• Commitment to safeguarding, health and safety, and the ISP values of diversity, inclusion and continuous learning.
