Senior Accountant for US & Canadian Clients (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to support a portfolio of North American clients. This long‑term contractor position is fully remote and focuses on overseeing accounting, financial reporting, and the work of bookkeepers across multiple small‑business and startup accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounting and financial reporting for several client entities.
• Review and supervise bookkeepers, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Lead month‑end close, general ledger activities, and reconciliations (bank, credit‑card, balance‑sheet).
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and KPI analyses.
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and support clean‑up projects.
• Coordinate with external CPAs and tax professionals, providing required documentation.
• Support payroll‑related accounting tasks and maintain internal reporting.
• Evaluate and validate AI‑driven accounting workflows and adapt processes as new automation tools are introduced.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior accountant handling U.S. or Canadian entities.
• Comfortable managing multiple client accounts simultaneously.
• Experience in fast‑paced, technology‑focused environments, preferably with startups or small businesses.
• Ability to mentor and oversee junior bookkeeping staff.
