Senior Accountant for US & Canadian Clients (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support a portfolio of North American clients. This long‑term contractor position is fully remote and involves overseeing accounting and financial reporting for multiple startups and small businesses across the US and Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounting and financial reporting across several client accounts.
• Review and oversee bookkeepers’ work, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Delegate transactional accounting tasks and guide the bookkeeping team.
• Handle general ledger activities and month‑end close processes.
• Perform bank, credit‑card and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reports.
• Identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and ensure timely resolution.
• Support catch‑up and clean‑up accounting projects as needed.
• Prepare documentation for external CPAs and tax professionals.
• Assist with payroll‑related accounting and reconciliations.
• Maintain internal financial reporting, documentation, and confidential records.
• Review AI‑driven accounting workflows and ensure accurate outputs.
• Adapt processes as new automation technologies are introduced.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level accounting experience, preferably with US or Canadian entities.
• Comfortable managing multiple client accounts simultaneously.
• Background in startup or small‑business environments.
• Ability to take ownership of financial reporting and guide junior staff.
• Interest in growing toward a controller‑level role.
