Senior C++ Engineer – Legacy Code Refactoring

About the role

We are looking for a Senior C++ Engineer to join a team dedicated to refactoring and enhancing a critical, production‑grade application. The role focuses on improving an existing C++ codebase while preserving its current behavior, architecture, and technology stack.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and understand complex legacy C++ code to support ongoing refactoring initiatives.
• Refactor components to boost maintainability, readability, performance, and overall code quality.
• Identify and resolve defects, inefficiencies, and architectural issues without breaking existing functionality.
• Collaborate with architects, technical leads, and engineers to define safe, incremental refactoring strategies.
• Conduct code reviews and champion engineering best practices across the team.
• Increase unit‑test coverage and validate refactored functionality.
• Document technical findings, design decisions, and refactoring approaches for future maintainability.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience developing production C++ applications.
• Proven track record working with large, legacy or long‑lived enterprise codebases.
• Experience performing code refactoring, modernization, or technical‑debt reduction initiatives.
• Solid understanding of object‑oriented design principles, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
• Ability to debug complex systems and conduct root‑cause analysis.
• Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating in distributed teams.
