Senior Software Engineer – Edge Platform & Web Performance

About the role

You will lead the design and scaling of a high‑volume web traffic platform at the CDN and edge computing layer. Working with a small, elite engineering team, you will own critical components, define architecture, and ensure reliable, low‑latency delivery for billions of dollars of e‑commerce transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale core platform infrastructure handling tens of thousands of requests per second.
• Provide technical leadership on architecture, write design documents, and plan methodical rollouts with defined KPIs.
• Debug complex cross‑browser and cross‑device behavior caused by backend changes.
• Collaborate with data engineering to create observability, measurement, and testability frameworks.
• Mentor engineers and act as escalation point for platform challenges.
• Stay current with emerging web performance, edge computing, and browser optimization technologies.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of software engineering experience building and scaling high‑traffic, multi‑tenant web platforms.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail at massive scale.
• Experience leading technical design and guiding teams through ambiguous, high‑complexity problems.

• TypeScript, JavaScript, Python
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• CDN infrastructure and web performance tools (Cloudflare, Lighthouse, WebPageTest)
• Web optimization techniques (web workers, lazy loading, code splitting)
• Infrastructure as Code (Pulumi or equivalent)
• SQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift, data‑warehouse querying
• Message queues (SQS, Kinesis or equivalent)
• CI/CD pipeline implementation
