2nd Grade Teacher Assistant

About the role

Cambridge College Lima, an international school in Lima, Peru, part of Inspired Education, is looking for a caring, enthusiastic and proactive Teaching Assistant to support teaching and learning. The successful candidate works closely with class teachers to create a safe, engaging and positive learning environment that promotes curiosity, independence and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Support the homeroom teacher in delivering engaging learning experiences across the curriculum.
• Give individual and small-group support to students, including those needing extra academic or learning help.
• Help with daily routines: welcoming students, organizing materials, checking assignment books, reading records and homework folders.
• Prepare, organize and distribute teaching resources, classroom materials and creative activities.
• Reinforce positive behaviour, school values and expectations, and supervise students during transitions, specialist lessons, lunch and playground duties.
• Monitor students' well-being, identify individual needs and share observations with the homeroom teacher.
• Encourage positive social skills, responsibility, independence and good classroom habits.
• Make sure students have the materials and information they need for homework and assessments.
• Collaborate with substitute teachers or cover classes when required and authorised by school leadership.
• Maintain effective communication with teaching staff and take part in school meetings and activities.

Required profile

• Qualifications in Education, Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, Psychology or a related field are desirable.
• Previous experience with primary school students, ideally as a teaching assistant or classroom support worker, is preferred.
• Good command of English and Spanish, able to work in a bilingual school environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and positive approach to teamwork.
