Accounting Leader

About the role

The Accounting Leader reports to the Country Controller and plays a critical part in delivering accurate, timely financial reporting across the Americas and globally. This senior position ensures the monthly, quarterly and year‑end close processes meet US GAAP, local GAAP and SOX requirements while supporting internal and external audit activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full financial reporting cycle, including month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close, account reconciliations and reserve judgments.
• Ensure all accounting processes comply with US GAAP, local GAAP, company policies and SOX controls.
• Coordinate and support internal and external audit engagements.
• Supervise intercompany and accounts payable transactions.
• Provide detailed account analysis, explain variances and resolve pending items.
• Maintain and upgrade accounting systems, driving automation and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Develop team capabilities through coaching, training and change‑management support.
• Communicate effectively with local and regional leadership on financial performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Accounting.
• Fluency in English and Spanish.
• Minimum five years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multinational environment.
• Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
• Desired: Master’s degree or professional finance certification.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SAP or similar ERP accounting systems.
• In‑depth knowledge of US GAAP and local GAAP.
• Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls.
• Ability to conduct financial analysis and prepare accurate reporting.
