AI-Augmented Software Engineer

About the role

Azumo builds and operates production AI systems for companies from seed-stage startups to Meta, and hires Software Engineers to deliver product software in its clients' stacks, using coding agents as part of the workflow. The role is fully remote across Latin America, aligned to the client's working day, and focuses on what the software does rather than on building AI itself.

Key responsibilities

• Build product software end to end: APIs, services, data models and interfaces in the client's stack, from problem statement to running in front of users.
• Deliver work that can be handed over: specification and tests before implementation, agent context kept current in the repository, and gates that run on every change.
• Review every diff that ships under your name, regardless of who wrote it.
• Own quality through automated tests, CI/CD and failure handling.
• Work inside the client's environment: their repositories, standups and sometimes customer calls; client code stays in client repositories, and some engagements carry extra requirements such as HIPAA.

Required profile

• 5+ years building and shipping production software in at least one modern language and stack, with testing, code review, CI/CD, Git, containers and API design.
• Depth in one stack and willingness to work in another; practical work with relational and non-relational databases, including schema design and query performance.
• Integration with third-party APIs (REST, OAuth, JSON) and handling of retries, timeouts and degradation.
• Automated testing as a habit: unit, integration and tests written alongside the code.
• Cloud deployment with Docker, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (GitHub Actions, Terraform or Bicep).
• Daily use of AI coding agents beyond autocomplete, plus clear written and spoken English (C1 or above) and the ability to explain technical trade-offs to a client.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred qualifications

• Frontend depth (React, Vue or equivalent) and mobile delivery, native or cross-platform.
• Agent tooling you built yourself (MCP servers, hooks, sandboxes, CI gates).
• Performance and cost work on live systems, and delivery under SOC 2 or HIPAA.
• Open-source contributions, technical writing or community involvement.
