Chief Architect – International Banking Engineering

About the role

The Chief Architect – International Banking Engineering will define and steward a cohesive architectural vision for Scotiabank’s international banking technology portfolio. Reporting to senior leadership, this role drives the design of scalable, secure, resilient and compliant platforms while accelerating the shift to a cloud‑native environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and lead the architectural strategy for the assigned macro‑domain, enabling business transformation and legacy modernization.
• Classify application portfolios, drive simplification and rationalization to align with target architecture.
• Oversee remediation plans to ensure systems remain current, secure and meet regulatory standards.
• Guarantee cloud‑ready solutions that are scalable, secure and cost‑efficient, adhering to enterprise patterns.
• Develop and maintain the domain technology roadmap, including capability mapping, architecture patterns and blueprints.
• Partner with business and engineering teams from ideation through production to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
• Lead annual technology planning, risk identification and mitigation aligned with the enterprise vision.
• Consolidate and modernize platforms to improve cost efficiency, resilience and technical capability.
• Strengthen architecture governance through automation and proactive deviation management.
• Mentor architects and engineering teams, fostering technical excellence and collaboration.
