Commercial Director – Merchant Activation & Growth

About the role

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will own merchant activation, management and acquisition for a fast‑growing BNPL fintech. Your first mandate is to optimise the existing merchant book and build a playbook that turns every signed merchant into a producing one. You will lead a team of 12 specialists and be expected to deliver measurable results within the first quarter.

Key responsibilities

• Activate signed merchants, ramp them up and reactivate stalled accounts.
• Manage and grow existing merchant relationships through key account managers.
• Drive acquisition of high‑quality merchants and ensure they meet production targets.
• Design commercial processes, incentives and organisational layers as the team scales.
• Negotiate C‑level contracts with large merchants and oversee portfolio growth metrics.

Required profile

• 6+ years leading commercial teams with a proven record of hitting aggressive quotas.
• Demonstrated success in merchant activation, not just acquisition.
• Fast ramp‑up experience – delivering results in the first months of a role.
• Startup mindset: building pipelines and processes from scratch with limited data.
• Comfort negotiating with C‑level executives and willingness to travel within Peru.
