Customs Operations Agent

About the role

Expeditors, a global logistics company, is hiring a Customs Operations Agent in San Isidro. The agent coordinates and executes all operational activities related to customs clearance, port operations, cargo release and transportation coordination, ensuring shipments move on time and in compliance while keeping close contact with carriers, ports, warehouses, customs authorities and transport providers.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage cargo routing and dispatch instructions for import and export shipments.
• Process and obtain delivery orders and port release documentation.
• Handle Bill of Lading (BL) release procedures, including endorsements and carrier approvals (Visto Bueno).
• Coordinate and process Gate In operations and related terminal requirements.
• Schedule cargo pickup appointments and coordinate transportation with trucking companies, warehouses, terminals and ports.
• Arrange extraordinary operational services when required.
• Coordinate empty container return appointments with depots and terminals.
• Submit payment requests and reconcile invoices within 48 hours of receipt.
• Maintain accurate operational records and update internal systems with shipment status and documentation.
• Monitor shipment milestones and resolve issues that could affect service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with local customs regulations, company procedures and operational standards.
• Support other operational and administrative tasks as requested by management.

Required profile

• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in customs operations, freight forwarding, logistics or port operations.
• Knowledge of customs clearance processes, shipping documentation and import/export procedures.
• Experience coordinating with shipping lines, ports, warehouses and transportation providers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
