Data Engineer (Temporary)

About the role

Applaudo Studios is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join its team in Lima on a temporary basis. The role builds and maintains ETL pipelines that move data from Zuora REST APIs into a GCP data warehouse, and keeps those pipelines reliable in a distributed, async-first environment.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain ETL pipelines between Zuora REST APIs and a GCP data warehouse.
• Develop and maintain integration components using TypeScript/Node.js and Python.
• Manage transformation logic for billing events, subscription lifecycles, invoices, payments and revenue data.
• Work within the existing architecture, development patterns, conventions and CI/CD workflows.
• Develop data pipelines using GCP services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow and Pub/Sub.
• Implement pipeline monitoring, alerting, error handling, retry logic and data-quality controls.
• Write complex SQL validation queries to verify data parity between source data and warehouse tables.
• Collaborate with the Business Architect on data-validation requirements and investigate pipeline failures and data discrepancies.
• Provide clear written updates and participate in the Agile/Kanban workflow.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, integration development or related roles.
• Ability to join an established codebase, follow existing patterns and CI/CD workflows, and become productive with minimal guidance.
• Strong written communication and an async-first collaboration style; working English for daily collaboration with an international team.
• Availability to overlap with Pacific Time, mainly between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. PT.

Required skills

• Production ETL pipelines with TypeScript and Node.js, and strong Python for data pipelines.
• GCP services: BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow and Pub/Sub.
• REST API integration with OAuth 2.0, pagination, error handling and retry mechanisms.
• Advanced SQL and data-quality validations.
• Plus: Zuora REST APIs and ZOQL, dbt or similar transformation frameworks, and the GCP Professional Data Engineer certification.
