Design & Technology Teacher (Potential Head of Department)

About the role

Markham College is seeking an inspiring secondary‑school Design & Technology teacher with experience delivering the IGCSE and IB programmes. The role may evolve into a Head of Department position, providing strategic leadership for the subject area.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess Design & Technology lessons for secondary students.
• Develop and adapt curriculum to meet IGCSE and IB standards.
• Prepare students for external examinations and project-based assessments.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate cross‑disciplinary initiatives.
• Potentially lead the Design & Technology department, overseeing staffing and resource allocation.
• Participate in extracurricular activities and school events related to design and technology.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in Design, Technology, Engineering or a related field.
• PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Proven experience teaching Design & Technology at IGCSE and/or IB level.
• Strong classroom management and the ability to inspire learners.
• Willingness to take on departmental leadership responsibilities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IGCSE and IB Design & Technology curricula.
