Field Service Engineer - Gas Turbine Packages

About the role

Solar Turbines, a Caterpillar company, provides gas turbomachinery packages and services for the oil and gas and power generation industries. As a Field Service Engineer, you will act as a technical and administrative representative at customer locations, supporting preventive maintenance, inspections, call-out service and commissioning of Solar gas turbine packages. You will work under general direction, solving customer requirements and technical problems while keeping safety, service quality and equipment availability in mind.

Key responsibilities

• Follow Solar and customer HSSE policies, procedures and work permit requirements, and take part in safety and toolbox meetings
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, call-out services and commissioning support according to Solar Engineering specifications
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues using procedures, drawings, technical manuals and technical advice
• Repair and adjust minor mechanical and electrical components, and give technical assistance to operations and maintenance crews
• Prepare daily reports, maintain equipment history records and coordinate parts and material requisitions
• Use the Workforce Management system to manage work orders, site safety information, availability, time reporting and task libraries

Required profile

• Technical degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation, Marine or Aviation Engineering
• Typically 3 to 5 years of experience in a related industry
• Experience in overseas, offshore, remote or field service environments, and with gas turbine and turbomachinery maintenance
• Ability to work across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls disciplines
• High intermediate English; top candidates also have a bachelor's degree, advanced English, a valid passport and a B1/B2 visa

Required skills

• Mechanical maintenance, diagnostics and troubleshooting of power generation and oil and gas equipment
• Basic understanding of PLCs and ability to read engineering drawings, schematics and technical manuals
• Ability to obtain and maintain medical, survival and technical certifications, including offshore ones where applicable
