Financial Sector Senior Specialist

About the role

The Inter-American Development Bank Group is seeking a proactive, results‑oriented Financial Sector Senior Specialist to help design and implement innovative financing solutions that mobilize resources for inclusive, sustainable development across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement blended finance models, project financing structures, sovereign guarantees and credit‑enhancement instruments.
• Lead or co‑lead complex financial structuring and negotiation of transactions involving public and private stakeholders, including debt‑for‑development swaps.
• Develop and apply sophisticated risk‑mitigation techniques such as guarantees, insurance mechanisms, mezzanine financing and special‑purpose vehicles (SPVs).
• Engage in high‑level technical and policy dialogue with government authorities and development partners.
• Build and manage relationships with institutional investors, commercial banks, private‑equity firms and other financial intermediaries.
• Collaborate with IDB divisions (energy, infrastructure, health, education) to create multidisciplinary financial solutions.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in finance, economics, public policy or a related field.
• Significant experience in financial structuring, capital‑markets solutions and development finance.
• Proven ability to work with both public and private sector stakeholders on complex transactions.
• Strong analytical and advisory skills, with a focus on innovative financing.
