Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

Azumo builds and operates production AI systems for clients from seed-stage startups to large companies, using small teams embedded in each client's environment. The Forward Deployed Engineer is the engineer sitting inside the client's team, owning the system end to end, from the first conversation through to incidents after release. The role is fully remote across Latin America, aligned to the client's working day.

Key responsibilities

• Own the whole delivery: discovery, design, build, verification, release and the incident afterwards, with no pre-written specification.
• Build software, data pipelines, models or AI systems in production, and act as technical lead on the account.
• Work inside the client's environment: their repositories, standups and sometimes customer calls.
• Use AI coding agents daily, with specification and tests first and gates on every change.
• Run automated security, cost and architecture audits on the codebase, and use a vendor-neutral approach to models.

Required profile

• 7+ years building and shipping production software, with depth in one of four lanes: product software, data pipelines and retrieval, modeling and applied AI, or AI systems in production.
• Experience as the only engineer on an engagement or the first one on a new client, delivering inside someone else's environment without supervision.
• Daily delivery work with AI coding agents beyond autocomplete.
• Cloud deployment on Azure or AWS, with Docker, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (GitHub Actions, Terraform or Bicep).
• English at C1/C2 level.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Preferred: depth in a second lane, SOC 2 or HIPAA compliance experience, consulting or client-services background, and open-source contributions.
