Founding Engineer

About the role

Yavendió is building AI‑powered virtual sellers that operate on WhatsApp, Instagram and other social channels 24/7 for SMBs across Latin America. As a Founding Engineer you will shape the core product, make long‑term architectural decisions and ship features end‑to‑end in a fast‑moving, high‑ownership environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and ship the core stack, including messaging integrations (WhatsApp Business, Instagram), the Maia AI agent layer and customer‑facing tooling.
• Own features from concept through production, handling edge cases, infrastructure, incidents and on‑call duties.
• Implement and fine‑tune conversational AI agents – prompt engineering, tool configuration and guardrail tuning.
• Build and maintain integrations with external systems via REST APIs, webhooks and internal platforms.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues such as model regressions and integration failures.
• Collaborate directly with founders and early customers to define product direction.
• Make architecture decisions that balance speed and future scale.
• Help define engineering culture, standards and hiring criteria as the team grows.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience on production systems.
• Strong full‑stack capability, owning both backend and frontend as well as the integration layer.
• Experience with REST APIs, webhooks and asynchronous backend patterns.
• Comfort working with large language models or a strong willingness to dive deep quickly.
• High autonomy, bias to ship and ability to make good decisions under uncertainty.
• Fluent in Spanish or Portuguese and proficient in English.
