Groundskeeper I – Full-Time Position

About the role

The Groundskeeper I is responsible for maintaining attractive and safe outdoor areas across district facilities. This full-time position works early mornings to ensure grounds are clean, functional and ready for public use.

Key responsibilities

• Clean landscaped areas, storm drains and rain gutters to prevent flooding and remove hazards.
• Operate and maintain grounds‑keeping equipment, ensuring it remains in safe working condition.
• Assist with landscaping tasks such as installing lawns, shrubbery, irrigation systems, fences and playgrounds.
• Select and plant vegetation to enhance appearance and control erosion.
• Prepare sports fields, courtyards and flower beds for safe and attractive use.
• Transport equipment and supplies to job sites and request needed materials.

Required profile

• Prior experience in grounds maintenance or a related field.
• Valid driver’s license and required clearances (fingerprint, health, TB).
• Ability to walk for prolonged periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing and pulling.
• Capability to follow oral and written instructions and work independently.
