Health Aide (6‑hour) – Adult Transition Program

About the role

The Health Aide provides essential clerical and hands‑on support to meet the health needs of students in the Adult Transition Program. Working under the direction of the school nurse, the aide assists with first aid, medication administration, health screenings, and documentation required by federal, state, and local agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Administer first aid, medication, and specialized treatment to ill, medically fragile, or injured students.
• Assist the nurse with health screenings, training sessions, and data collection for mandated reports.
• Prepare and maintain health documentation such as school health cards, emergency cards, inventory logs, and supply orders.
• Refer students needing further medical attention to the nurse and ensure proper follow‑up.
• Conduct pediculosis screenings for students and staff and report communicable disease incidents.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, including sinks, counters, cots, and related equipment.
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and other activities to stay informed and share information.

Required profile

• Prior experience in a health‑related support role.
• Ability to work independently and follow oral and written instructions.
• Physical capability to lift, carry, stoop, kneel, and perform other routine tasks.
• Clear criminal background check, health physical clearance, and tuberculosis testing.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification, renewed at least every two years.
