Healthcare Assistant – Part‑Time & Full‑Time

About the role

The Health Care Assistant supports customers to live safely and happily at home, providing personal care, meal preparation and light housekeeping. The role can be performed on a part‑time or full‑time basis across the D2, D4, D6 and D8 areas.

Key responsibilities

• Follow current safety protocols, including safe moving and handling.
• Report any concerns about customers or colleagues, and any safeguarding incidents, to the manager.
• Document all tasks completed for each shift in daily logs with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Provide personal care such as bathing, dressing, incontinence assistance, medication prompting, and meal preparation with dignity and respect.
• Encourage customer autonomy, engage in conversation, and offer companionship.
• Attend scheduled training and adhere to professional boundaries.

Required profile

• QQI Level 5 Health Care Award or equivalent.
• Additional training: Children’s First, Safeguarding, Dementia, GDPR, AMRIC Infection Prevention and Control, Hand Hygiene, and PPE handling.

Required skills

• Basic patient care including bathing, dressing and feeding.
• Assisting with mobility, exercise and light housekeeping.
• Effective verbal and written communication and active listening.
• Providing companionship and emotional support.
