Healthcare Virtual Assistant

About the role

EDGE is seeking a virtual healthcare professional to support US‑based clinics and insurance providers. The role acts as a liaison between patients, providers, and insurers, ensuring smooth access to care through accurate insurance verification, prior authorizations, and scheduling.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct eligibility checks and verify patient benefits before appointments, documenting deductibles, copays, and coinsurance.
• Prepare, submit, and track prior authorization requests via portals, fax, or phone, and manage appeals for denied claims.
• Handle inbound and outbound patient calls to schedule, reschedule, and send reminders for wellness visits.
• Maintain doctors’ calendars to optimize clinic workflow and minimize gaps in care.

Required profile

• Healthcare‑related degree (e.g., Nursing, Pharmacy, Healthcare Administration) or 1–2 years of direct US healthcare experience.
• Strong understanding of US insurance concepts such as PPO, HMO, Medicare/Medicaid, EOBs, and patient benefits.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with high attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with insurance portals (Availity, Optum, CoverMyMeds).
• Experience using electronic health record or practice management systems (eClinicalWorks, Tebra, Dentrix).
