Lead Auditor – Mining & Metals Sustainability

About the role

As a Lead Auditor you will provide independent, high‑quality assurance for mining and metals organisations, helping them meet internationally recognised sustainability and social performance standards. This executive‑level position sits at the intersection of human rights, ESG, and operational accountability, influencing how companies build trust with investors, communities and Indigenous Peoples.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct third‑party certification and assurance audits against ISO frameworks, IRMA, The Copper Mark, ICMM, ASI and other ESG standards.
• Deliver clear, actionable audit findings and recommendations to senior decision‑makers.
• Strengthen client credibility on human‑rights, labour practices, Indigenous engagement and grievance mechanisms.
• Contribute to the evolution of ERM CVS’s assurance methodologies and raise industry standards worldwide.
• Travel internationally up to 50% of the time to perform on‑site audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in international development, social sciences, law, public policy, anthropology, resource management or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 completed audits or 3+ years of audit work representing at least 25% of professional duties in the past five years.
• Proven experience in social impact assessment, FPIC, Indigenous rights, resettlement or social performance within mining or related sectors.
• Practical exposure to on‑site mining or minerals operations.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage confidently across cultures.
