Maintenance Technician – High Voltage Transmission

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking a Maintenance Technician for its Transmission business to work on the Antamina Mining Unit in Ancash, Peru. The role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance of high‑voltage (220 kV) transmission lines and substation equipment, ensuring service continuity, operational safety, and infrastructure integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Perform safe ascent and descent on metal structures up to 50 m high.
• Clean and inspect insulator chains to guarantee proper operation.
• Replace missing or deteriorated hardware and insulators.
• Maintain and clean metallic profiles of transmission towers.
• Conduct visual inspections of electrical and structural components.
• Execute electromechanical maintenance on primary substation equipment (transformers, breakers, disconnectors, lightning arresters).
• Maintain electrical panels, auxiliary services, and common substation services.
• Carry out electrical tests and measurements on substation equipment.
• Clean and retighten connections to prevent overheating failures.
• Install, replace, or remove structures, hardware, insulators, and conductors as required.

Required profile

• Completed secondary education.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in plant shutdowns, substation maintenance, or transmission line work.
• Native Spanish speaker.
• Willingness to travel to the project site.

• High‑voltage (220 kV) transmission line maintenance.
• Substation electromechanical maintenance.
• Electrical testing and measurement techniques.
• Climbing and working at heights (30‑50 m).
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with safety procedures.
