Postdoctoral Researcher in Geophysics (2-year Fixed-term)

About the role

The Instituto Geofísico del Perú invites applications for a full‑time, on‑site Postdoctoral Researcher at the Jicamarca Radio Observatory. The successful candidate will lead independent research projects in geophysics, space physics and related disciplines, combining experimental, observational and modelling approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute research projects, including methodology development and data acquisition.
• Process, analyse and model large geophysical datasets using statistical and numerical techniques.
• Prepare scientific manuscripts, technical reports and conference presentations.
• Contribute to grant proposals and collaborative initiatives with internal and external partners.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students and participate in seminars and outreach activities.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Physics, Space Physics, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field (completed or expected 2023‑2024).
• Strong background in geophysical principles and quantitative research.
• Proven record of publishing in peer‑reviewed journals and presenting at scientific meetings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in an interdisciplinary environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB and R for data processing and modelling.
• Experience with statistical analysis and numerical modelling of geophysical data.
