Principal Program Manager - Turnkey Projects LATAM

About the role

HITACHI RAIL is looking for a Principal Program Manager to lead and manage large-scale, complex turnkey projects across Latin America, from conception to completion. The role suits a strategic leader who can drive execution, manage diverse teams and build strong client relationships. The position is based in San Isidro, Lima, and requires extensive travel within Latin America.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the full lifecycle of several turnkey projects at once, keeping them on scope, budget and schedule
• Develop and implement project strategies, methodologies and best practices for the Latin American market
• Lead and mentor cross-functional teams covering engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning
• Act as main point of contact for clients, managing their expectations and resolving issues
• Identify and mitigate risks, prepare contingency plans and take corrective action
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, environmental and regulatory standards
• Prepare and present status reports, financial forecasts and performance metrics to senior management
• Negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers and subcontractors
• Travel extensively across Latin America to project sites and client meetings

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field; Master's or MBA preferred
• 10-15 years of progressive experience in program or project management, mostly on large turnkey projects in industry, infrastructure or energy
• Proven track record of delivering projects in Latin America
• Fluent English and Spanish (written and spoken); Portuguese is a strong asset
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently across Latin America

Required skills

• PMP certification or equivalent is highly desirable
• Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project and Primavera P6
