Procurement Assistant

About the role

The World Food Programme (WFP) is hiring a Procurement Assistant (Asistente de Compras) in Lima, Peru, within its Supply Chain unit. This is a 6-month Service Contract (SC L5) with possible extension, aimed at supporting efficient and effective procurement services in the field.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out procurement activities promptly and efficiently to support professional staff in acquiring goods and services for field operations.
• Gather data, prepare and distribute documents such as tender calls, bid evaluations and contract negotiations, applying standard procedures.
• Review, register and prioritize purchase requests, ensuring supporting documentation is collected.
• Maintain supplier databases, market analyses and relevant records, and issue monthly reports with key indicators.
• Provide technical guidance on procurement processes and help apply emergency preparation practices.

Required profile

• Complete secondary education; university degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Industrial Engineering or similar is desirable.
• At least 5 years of experience as a buyer; experience with suppliers or third parties is required.
• Desirable: intermediate to advanced English, advanced Excel, SAP MM module and Coupa platform knowledge.
• Desirable: UN agency experience and a specialization or courses in procurement, supply chain, public contracting or ERP systems.

Required skills

• Effective communication, problem solving, organization and confidentiality in supplier relations.
• Analysis and reporting experience.
